The segment of people that I chose to interview were the
ages of 20-50. Some of these people were buying for themselves and others were
buying for their children. Throughout the three interviews I was able to see
that the main focus of this service was when they were looking for a new
wakeboard. They also would need this service if they just released a brand-new
design and thought about switching from their current setup. They would also
become aware of their situation when buying a product for their son or
daughter. This situation would also be
really important if they outgrew their current board or if it broke.
When talking to these people I found out that the first
thing that they do is search for new boards in google. They will type into
google things like “New Wakeboards or Wakeboards near me”. They will also talk
to their friends that they like to go riding with to get their opinion on what
they think they should do. Some of the key things that they look at are brands
and the price.
Overall there is an opportunity here because the three that I
talked to said at one point they made a bad purchase when it came to buying a
new setup. They would of liked to have an option to ride it beforehand to see
how it preformed while riding.
For information searches I would put down many different
possibilities of phrases that they would type into google so then my company
would pop up with the demos.
Hey Will,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your interviews reinforced what you had already thought about your product which is a definite plus in my opinion. I also found that many of those in my market went to google with fairly basic search terms but it is good to know what search entries to target with marketing. One idea I had about your product/service was that maybe when the new boards came out you could ask the companies if they would be willing to give you a discounted price on the model so that you can lend it out for trials. This would benefit you because you would be saving money, and also the company because it would mean more sales for them. Just a thought.
Thanks, Zach L.
Hey Will. I like that you pinpointed where people tend to search for new boards, because that will help where you plan to market your idea. Also the segment you choose is the typically age group where people would purchase a wakeboard. The only thing I would recommend is to think of a more specific segment of people at some point, such as college students or specifically parents of wakeboarding children to eventually target specific groups of people.
